The Idiots are Winning is out on December 4th, this is the title of James Holden new album out on Border Community. Very excited to hear this. James has been blowing minds left and right these last few years, so I am stoked. Speaking of blowing minds Florida friend Jimmy Van M has a three disk mixed monster out now on Balance (10) that is. This is real an amazing set of disks while still keeping his deep dark progressive sound he stays fresh with perfect blend of minimal electro and dark progressive tunes. Pitchfork folks interviewed mr tom york. you may know him from a crazy episode of space ghost were bjork got married to the ghost and moltar(sp) wanted fight tom with knives or you may know him from his new album...the eraser. here is a few excerpts: Pitchfork: Were there moments when you didn't feel like getting back together with the band? TY: Yeah, we have them all the time. It'd be deeply unhealthy if it weren't like that. And that's not just instigated by me. Sometimes people just have enough-- they just can't deal with it anymore. Pitchfork: And even [Radiohead guitarist] Jonny [Greenwood] beat you to [a solo album]. You had to. So when it came to creating the songs on The Eraser, you wrote them knowing they were for the Thom Yorke record-- not candidates for a Radiohead album? TY: Yeah. Early on it was like, "Oh shit, maybe I should try this with the band," but once I actually sat down with [producer] Nigel [Godrich], I basically said, "Well, fuck it. It all goes in...that's where I am at the moment." There were unsatisfying things about it because I tend to be lazy in certain ways. Given the choice, I wouldn't bother making arrangements-- I would just do whatever on the day. That's where Nigel fits. Forcing me to respond to what's in front of [us]. Pitchfork: So you already needed that sort of task master-- now you guys have been in the studio with a lot less structure since you left your former label. TY: To be fair, the label never said, "Come on [claps]. We need this, we need this." Dalai Lama meets electronic music? Ok well not exactly. Electronic musician Ryuichi Sakamoto has composed a sound installation called Sonic Mandala for the The Missing Peace: Artists consider the Dalai Lama. This "multi-media art exhibition that brings together over 75 well-respected artists, representing more than 25 countries. With the full life of the Dalai Lama as inspiration, the intention for this project is to shift the world's attention towards peace." Another electronic artist that has supported Tibet cause is Banco De Gaia.

Ok on to news of the local type those crazy movement folks are at it again so if your in jacksonville and looking to celebrate the big 06 06 06 then check this out GROTESQUE 6.6.6 A revisiting of the entire series of surreal photographic manipulation and sculpture of M A X M I C H A E L S >From 1999-2002 the surreal works of Max Michaels titled GROTESQUE were presented as a third of the unique self produced TRINITY art exhibitions. On this Tuesday 06.06.06, an apt date to display these often unsettling and disturbing images, the entire series will be presented for the first time as one show and for one night only at the WAREHOUSE next to Martini's @ the crossroads of Edgewood Ave and 17 South. The main Warehouse will act as the gallery with composer Curse Mackey's original score for the GROTESQUE series playing throughout the night. The back bar and dance floor will be open for attendees to relax, dance, and discuss. Curse Mackey, the lead signer of PIGFACE and former member of Thrill Kill Cult and Evil Mothers, along with his A.S.P. Beat Battalion partner Blake Harris and locals Porcelain Black will DJ the night along with fetish theatre performances by members of the SEDUCTION stage troupe and visuals by Electrolush. Wow its been an isane trip still one more day left. were up early today if you can call 1129a early but we want to catch the master Carl Craig. Last night was crazy Le Petit Orb wasnt there full live show but they throw down and have wowed a whole 'nother generation with massive deep tunes. Before that previous festival promoter Kevin Saunderson showed us all what it really means to have the good life in detroit. We went and checked the J-Dilla and they were holding down, we misssed some of the earlier acts because we got stuck buying vinyl at Record Time ;) Chris Liebing and SpeedyJ brought out the big room techno as they destoyed the masses. Later that night we stopped in at the Ghostly party and saw Carsten Jost and Lawrence drop my favorite bleeps. Then we shot down the street to this crazy party and got to hear Ben Sims level the place will Wolf and Lamb dropped some tasty fresh signals. Upstairs had a more experimental vibe with noise terror from Richard Devine and Otto Van Shirach. Get this the club had a bowling alley in it. Classic. I wanted to stay and hear modeselektor but it was 4am and we gots to go.

Welcome to techno city....wow last night was just insane.... The Kooky Scientist rocked the main stage hard, instead of a more experimental side i expected he dropped the techno bombs. Ryan Elliot from ghostly had the cool kids jamming with his own stile of funky minimal techno. The Beatport tent had the more experimental flavor with ARC and Krikor jamming live. James Holden had the underground stage in a literal uproar then Superpitcher came on and got deep with the kompakt flavour. Doc Martin was being his funky soulful self and then at the end Robert Hood finished off the night with some detroit support and of course ended things with no ufos. So today we are off to find to greektown for some killer food. we hit up submerge records yesterday and are on a mission to find recordtime today. This is truly an amazing city and the people here rock! More later ;)

Finally made it....Well finally we have had a turn of luch after spending the night in the freezing 50 degree airport we got on flight and made it to detroit. We arrived at the Avis rental counter and "jeet" gave us the hook up when she heard our story so now we are driving a cadillac sts. Pimpin in Detroit...nice....So want to head right downtown but we have another airport pickup at 4pm so we are undecided at the moment....Should have some goodies for you on the festival tonight.

ok folks I just saw on the Detroit Movement Festival web site that Nitzer Ebb is playing live this is very exciting. the lineup is getting very exciting even if you are not a a big techno head, there is something for everbody, planet of the drums, james holden, pop ambient/kompakt, roy davis jr., greenskeepers, the list just keeps getting better. The price for all of this great talent is $40 + 5$ service fee in advance so if you look at other festivals for a three day pass this is still a great deal. So dust of those travelling shoes and get on the move.
